5-minute Immunity Boosting Cocktail

by
Immunity Boosting Cocktail

This is the simplest, yet most powerful elixir you can drink upon waking up. You don’t need to go to a fancy spa or buy expensive shots. You most likely have all the ingredients at home and if you don’t they are easy to find. It may look like orange juice but it is so much better for you. Most people don’t realize that oranges are really supposed to be eaten whole, not juiced. There is so much sugar in the juice and without the fiber, our body gets into insulin overload!

I have to say that I am totally addicted to this immunity booster! I have been drinking it every morning for the past month! You don’t even need a juicer, any blender will work. You won’t believe how clean and good you will feel after drinking it! The citrus oils are intense in a good way. You can literally feel it going down into your stomach! It is amazing! It is like taking liquid pure sunshine into your body.

What is great about this drink is that you get to use the whole fruit. Not just the juice! There are so many health benefits found in the skin of fruits and spices that we often end up just discarding. If you know me, you know that I hate wasting gifts from Mother Nature. That’s because I am very appreciative of all the time, work and nurturing it takes to grow food and fruit.

Immunity building drink

You don’t need to be a nutritionist to see that this drink is loaded with vitamin C, anti oxidants… just look at the vibrant orange yellow color! It will also naturally help eliminate toxins from the body by causing additional bowel movements, I kid you not! This makes me think of another potent drink that is a great digestive help and can be made at home. It is called rejuvelac. Pure probiotics in a bottle!

Cocktail ingredients

Citrus fruits: The basic recipe uses 1 orange, and 2 lemons but you can substitute a grapefruit or some limes.
Turmeric: fresh turmeric can be hard to find but turmeric powder works fine.
Ginger: only fresh will work (no powder).
Optional: agave or maple syrup

Tips
– Make a fresh batch every week and it will keep refrigerated for a week.
– If you have extra ginger and lemons, double the recipe. Pour into ice cubes and freeze.
– I like to add a little mango juice to it to lightly sweeten it.

What about the pulp?

Lemon pulp

When you make this drink, you will not only have the most amazing immunity boosting drink, but you can also make tea from the pulp. So don’t throw it away! Add a little sweetener (agave, maple or raw sugar) and spread it on a lined baking sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes at 325F until it is dehydrated. Turn it into a powder using a coffee grinder or a blender. You now have your own tea.  Just put a teaspoon in an infuser, add hot water and steep for a minute. You can also make some ice tea with it.

Lemon seedlings

Why stop here. Did you know that you can collect the lemon seeds and grow them into seedlings plants! They are so beautiful, and fragrant too.  They make the best gift when planted in a nice mug or window container.

Sprouted seeds

You need to be patient but all you need to do is place the seeds onto a piece of wet paper towel. Fold the paper a few times and place in a sealed bag in a dark place and forget about it for 2 weeks. Open the bag and check the seeds. You should see that each has sprouted. They are now ready to plant in a small container. In a few more weeks you will have beautiful plants. That’s what I call a gift that keeps on giving!

So when you make this drink, take a moment to take it in, be grateful for the healing it will bring. You can visualize it as gold light moving through it.
