Whipped Coffee Concentrate

Whipped Coffee Concentrate

Coffee lovers, this one is for you! If you enjoy a good cup of Joe, iced lattes, coffee ice cream and any other variation on the theme, you are going to love this concentrate! I saw something about it the first time on Instagram. Truth be told, I have seen my fair share of interesting food related Instagram posts that caught my attention but also made me want to test it to see if it was a real thing. This is one of them.

whipped coffee

Apparently, you can take instant coffee and turn it into a whipped cream-like consistency. I never buy instant coffee but I went for it just to try it. All you need is 3 tablespoons of instant coffee with 3 tablespoons of powder sugar and 3-4 tablespoons of hot water. No milk, no cream, no emulsifier. The trick is to whip it long enough, about 8-10 minutes to get the right consistency. I used a small sieve and a small whip. The whip worked faster and cleaner.

Can I use any coffee?

No, only instant coffee or instant expresso will work. Regular ground coffee won’t work because it will not dissolve or emulsify! If you use instant expresso, you might want to use a little more sugar.

How to use whipped coffee concentrate

The great thing about this concentrate is that it is quite strong so a little goes a long way. I used one tablespoon with 4 cups of liquid (water and almond milk) and made the most amazing tall iced latte in 3 seconds! It was perfectly sweetened too. Add a few tablespoons to homemade ice cream, pudding, frosting, you get the idea. It is pretty cool.

It will keep refrigerated for a few weeks but you will need to whip it again when you use it because some of the sugar will be at the bottom.
